Many people are unfortunately turning to weight loss injectables and pills with multiple adverse effects to lose weight. This book shows how you can do it naturally.

Surely you have seen all the reports, perhaps even from your own doctor, that our health is suffering, and it is not from some evil virus, but something we have done to ourselves, often unwittingly, because the quality of our foods and our food-eating habits have changed dramatically over the last 70 years.

This book is one of several that address this issue at a very high level, and I would include it in the health-trifecta of my book, The Healing Revolution Diet, and Dr. Robert Lustig’s classic Metabolical.

Buy and read this book if you want to not only lose weight but also regain control over your metabolic and cellular health. If you want one book that explains the details of why so many of us have failed in terms of weight gain and chronic illnesses and describes how to reverse it all, this is the book you want.

The title is misleading in a sense, but also brilliant. The authors are trying to ride the wave of popularity for these dangerous weight loss jabs by using it in the book’s title. A more boring but accurate title for this book is something like: Live Longer and Better by Healing Yourself at the Cellular Level.

I did the same thing with my book, The Healing Revolution Diet. I used the word "diet” in the title, much to the chagrin of a friend of mine who kept telling me that I was hurting my book by calling it a diet book, but because so many people search for diet books daily, I used the title to ride the popularity of people searching for diets.

If you are NOT looking for the easy way to health, if you want to truly heal rather than use a pharmaceutical that only treats the symptoms and that must be maintained for the rest of your life, this book and this plan are for you.

The Core of Beyond Weight Loss Jabs

This book is a thorough examination of how we have derailed our cellular and metabolic health with a broken food system and a culture of convenience – along with a comprehensive approach to reversing and healing at the root level. Also included is a 12-week fat-loss plan to lose weight naturally by improving metabolic flexibility as well as healthy recipes for achieving your goals.

Through 15 chapters – yes, this is a big book – the authors take readers on a powerful journey showing how we can move from metabolically unhealthy to metabolically healthy.

Some of my favorite chapter titles: “Why We’re Getting Fatter,” “The Big Five Cellular Root Causes of Obesity,” and “The Glucose Waterfall.”

Readers will learn how we got so many things wrong and why we need to change our perspective on food, eating, exercise, and more.

Here are some of my highlights from the book that I hope will inspire you to find this book and incorporate its recommendations.

  • Over the past 60 years, our belief systems have been warped by marketing from Big Food companies, Big Diet companies, and the terrible nutrition advice from the government (which steered us to low-fat, high-carb diets).

  • Simple carbs and sugars have become so plentiful that they massively predominate our thoughts of foods – and are what we mostly eat, often to excess.

  • We have very limited carbohydrate storage in our bodies; some in the liver and some in our muscles (unless we are sedentary, in which case the carb stores are maximized).

  • When dietary carbs exceed the capacity of our carb stores in the liver and muscles, the body turns those carbs into fat and stores them in the body; fat storage is unlimited.

  • We are born with metabolic flexibility – meaning we can either burn fat or carbs for energy – but the standard Western diet of ultra-processed foods (most containing added sugars) and sugary beverages has made many of us metabolically inflexible, only able to burn carbs.

  • Besides the metabolic inflexibility, continued exposure to sugar foods and snacks not only leads to carbs being converted to fat, but also to a never-ending cycle of carb spikes and carb crashes, and the body seeking more carbs.

  • Furthermore, overeating simple carbs and sugars causes fatty liver disease, makes our cells sick, leads to leaky gut (and autoimmune issues), and results in an increase in bad cholesterol.

  • Healthy cells can metabolically switch from using one fuel to another, typically burning about 70 percent fats and 30 percent carbs. The natural tendency of our bodies is to burn fat all day long, but it has been replaced with carbs because of our ultra-processed food diet and because carbs are a much easier fuel to burn.

  • When we eat a mostly carb-heavy diet, our mitochondria (the energy sources within our cells) become sluggish and inflammatory, and damaging substances build up.

  • Our body’s natural defense to spot and destroy cancer cells is reduced significantly with a carb-heavy diet, which is why simple carbs and sugars create an environment where cancer can, and does, flourish.

  • The worst refined sugar is fructose, which is found in many sugars, including sucrose (table sugar), fruit juice concentrates, and high fructose corn syrup (and all its different names).

  • By regularly eating carb- and sugar-driven snacks throughout the day, and through multiple mechanisms, our bodies become insulin resistant, which further damages our mitochondria, resulting mitochondria dysfunction.

  • The GLP-1 jabs do work temporarily, but without addressing the underlying five cellular root causes, these weight-loss shots will cost you muscle, money, and, eventually, hope. When the injections stop, the weight returns.

  • Muscle is your metabolic pension – so squandering it now (via weight loss jabs, poor food choices, and sedentary lifestyle) will result in a deficit of frailty, imbalance, and deadly falls later in life.

One of my favorite elements in this terrific book is the Glucose Waterfall, which is the process by which we become fat from carb overload. It shows that when we overload our diet with simple carbs, we overload both our only glucose stores (liver and muscles), which results in all the excess glucose being deposited directly into our bodies’ fat stores… and fat cells have an infinite capacity for fat.

In the end, the authors say we have two choices. We can continue being a passive participant in a broken food system that is cutting down longevity and destroying healthspan… or… become educated and aware and reclaim our metabolic health at the root level, losing weight and increasing odds for a long and happy healthspan free of debilitating chronic diseases (such as diabetes, heart disease, stroke, cancer, dementia).

Final Thoughts About Beyond Weight Loss Jabs

There is no easy way to lose weight and regain metabolic flexibility, except by using the methods outlined in this book. As a whole, we are simply gorging too much on sugary foods and beverages, whether we are aware of it or not, because these are the foods offered to us in the grocery store, the fast food restaurant, and the takeout joint.
